Do you want to use your own lived experience to empower others and help shape better mental health services?

We are looking for 1 Patient Representative and 1 Carer Representative to join the Faculty of Medical Psychotherapy as Workers. As part of this role to you will be encouraged to share your lived experience safely and advocate for others.

What Do We Mean by Lived Experience for This Role?

• Personal experience of accessing and navigating mental health services for Medical Psychotherapy or
• Personal experience of caring for a loved one who has accessed mental health services for Medical Psychotherapy

Key Aspects of This Role:

• Attend and contribute to executive committee meetings (3 meetings per year in London)
• Collaborate with committee members on pieces of work, such as input into consultation documents and College papers
• Contribute to the development of good practice guidelines.

What We are Looking For:

• You must have your own personal lived experience of using mental health services or caring for a loved one who has accessed services
• Availability to attend a minimum of 3 activities per year
• Access to your own electrical equipment to attend online meetings and Wi-Fi connection.

More Information About the Faculty:

The focus of Faculty work is to advance both within and external to the College all modalities of psychotherapy (cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic and systemic) as an integral part of psychiatry; to improve public knowledge of psychotherapy in the treatment of mental disorders; to increase theoretical and clinical knowledge of psychotherapy in the training of psychiatrists; and to promote research in psychotherapy.
