Administrative Assistant

We are now seeking to recruit an Administrative Assistant (maternity leave cover, working 3 days per week: Wednesday to Friday) to join our Legal Strategy and Advice department based in Hamilton House.
Working as part of a small team, you will provide a range of detailed, administrative, financial and clerical support, including work of an experienced legal secretary nature to the Head of Legal Strategy & Advice and Solicitors and Legal Executives of the Personal Injury Unit. You will also co-operate and liaise with other departments of the Union including finance, the sales team, HR, the regional offices and others as may be necessary.
To be effective in this role you will need to have good administrative and office skills, being able to deal with sensitive and confidential matters, using your initiative and exercising judgement within the level commensurate to the role.
You will also need to have good typing speeds and skills in using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, as well as being able to use and maintain office database systems.
Prospective applicants are also advised that your normal place of work will be the NEU office specified in this advert and that the NEU operates ‘Blended Working Arrangements’ for office-based staff, which means you will typically need to be based in the designated NEU office for 3 to 4 days a week (based on a full-time contract), with the remaining days based at home, and subject to business needs.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including 33 days’ annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a defined benefit pension scheme. Salary and benefits are pro-rata for part-time applicants.
