The leadership team prioritises strong SEND provision, along with early intervention and close collaboration with families and external agencies. The school’s SEND department is well-established, with dedicated teaching assistants, specialist intervention staff, and an inclusive curriculum that celebrates diverse learning needs.
The school now seeks a dedicated and experienced SENCO to lead and enhance its SEND strategy.
Role Information
The SENCO will be responsible for managing the SEND register, completing EHCP applications, coordinating interventions, and ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs. Responsibilities also include leading annual reviews, working closely with outside professionals, supporting teachers with differentiation, and monitoring progress of SEND learners.
The role requires strong communication, excellent organisation, and the ability to lead a team of support staff. The SENCO will work closely with SLT to embed inclusive practice, influence whole-school strategy, and ensure statutory requirements are met.
This is a key role within the school’s pastoral and academic structure, requiring someone passionate about SEND, proactive in problem-solving, and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
Requirements
• National SENCO Award (or willingness to complete it)
• Strong understanding of SEND legislation and procedures
• Experience supporting SEND pupils in a school setting
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to lead training, interventions, and provision planning
• Strong record-keeping, organisational, and administrative skills
