Senior Software Engineer - Full-Stack - Edinburgh, London
Job Description
Our ambition is to be the UK’s leading Wealth & Investments group. Strengthening talent and culture is one of our strategic priorities, and we strive to make Aberdeen a great place to work so we can attract and retain the industry’s best talent.
We put our stakeholders at the heart of everything we do, making a positive difference to the lives of our clients, customers, colleagues, shareholders, and society.
Aberdeen comprises three businesses:
interactive investor (ii): The UK’s second-largest direct-to-consumer investment platform.
Adviser: Financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers.
Investments: A specialist asset manager focused on public markets and alternative asset classes.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack) with at least 5 years’ experience to join our Development Chapter within the Asset Management Tribe. You’ll design, develop, and support systems critical to our investment operations and reporting capabilities, working closely with investment professionals to deliver solutions that drive decision-making and operational efficiency.
Our core platform includes:
Frontend: Angular (TypeScript)
Backend: C# (ASP.NET Core) microservices
Hosting: Kubernetes in Azure
Data: CosmosDB, RocksDB, blob and queue storage
Analytics: Python and C# modules
This is a hands-on engineering role combining deep technical expertise with strong business engagement. You’ll also have opportunities to explore emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, and contribute to the evolution of our cloud-native architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications (C#.NET, Python, Angular).
Build and integrate REST APIs and microservices in a cloud-native environment.
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.
Implement engineering best practices: test automation, CI/CD, secure coding.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Ensure observability and operational readiness, including Level 3 support.
About the Candidate
You thrive in an Agile environment, are self-motivated, and embrace continuous improvement. You balance innovation with compliance and are curious about applying emerging technologies to real-world challenges in investment management.
Strong experience in C# (ASP.NET Core) and Angular.
API development (REST, JSON, XML).
Solid understanding of software development practices and unit testing.
Experience with DevOps tooling and Agile delivery.
