Biology Teacher - Independent School - Wandsworth

Are you a passionate Biology Teacher with a strong understanding of the subject and a genuine interest in helping students succeed? An independent secondary school in Wandsworth is looking to appoint a Biology Teacher to join its Science Department on a full-time, permanent basis .

This position would suit a teacher who enjoys combining clear explanations with practical investigation. You will teach Science at Key Stage 3 and Biology at Key Stage 4, helping students develop both their scientific knowledge and their ability to apply it.

KS3 teaching will provide students with a strong grounding in areas such as cells, reproduction, ecosystems, health and the environment. At GCSE, you will cover the required Biology curriculum and prepare students for examinations through regular assessment, practical work and targeted revision.

The successful candidate should be comfortable delivering practical investigations and demonstrations and should be able to make complex biological concepts accessible to students. You will work closely with colleagues within the Science Department to monitor progress and ensure students receive consistent support.

The school is an established independent secondary school in Wandsworth which provides a broad academic curriculum alongside a strong focus on student development.

The Science Department aims to develop students who are curious, analytical and confident in applying scientific ideas. Practical work is used to help students understand concepts rather than simply memorising information.

The school encourages staff to collaborate, share resources and continue developing their teaching. There are opportunities for CPD and involvement in wider science activities, including enrichment and academic support.

Biology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications

  • Biology or Biological Sciences Degree

  • QTS or recognised teaching qualification

  • Secondary Science teaching experience

  • Strong Biology subject knowledge

  • Ability to teach KS3 Science

  • Ability to teach GCSE Biology

  • Experience delivering practical Science

  • Strong classroom management

  • Good planning and assessment skills

  • Ability to differentiate effectively

  • Enthusiasm for developing students' scientific understanding

Salary

The salary for this Biology Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
