Attendance Officer – Primary School – Haringey

A welcoming Primary School in the London Borough of Haringey is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its experienced pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving pupil attendance and building positive relationships with families to ensure every child has the best possible opportunity to succeed.
Working closely with the Headteacher, Inclusion Lead and School Business Manager, you will oversee attendance procedures, monitor attendance trends and implement early intervention strategies to improve attendance across the school. You will play an important role in supporting safeguarding procedures while maintaining accurate attendance records and ensuring compliance with statutory guidance.

Attendance Team
The Attendance Team works proactively with pupils, families and external agencies to promote excellent attendance and remove barriers to learning.
Responsibilities
Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality.
Contacting parents regarding unexplained absences.
Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS.
Producing attendance reports for senior leaders.
Identifying patterns of persistent absence.
Meeting with parents and carers to discuss attendance concerns.
Supporting attendance intervention strategies.
Liaising with the Local Authority and external agencies.
Supporting safeguarding procedures.
Promoting whole-school attendance initiatives.
Maintaining confidential pupil records.
Preparing attendance data for leadership meetings.
Supporting admissions administration where required.
Assisting the wider administration team during busy periods.
Ensuring compliance with statutory attendance guidance.
Requirements
Previous attendance or school administration experience.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Experience using school MIS systems is desirable.
Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
Strong attention to detail.
Professional and empathetic approach.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Commitment to safeguarding.
Ability to build positive relationships with families.
Ability to work effectively within a busy school environment.
