The SEN TA will provide one-to-one and small group support , assist with lesson modifications, and implement strategies designed to help pupils access the curriculum while developing independence, confidence, and social-emotional skills. You will collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists to ensure pupils receive tailored support that meets their unique needs.

  • Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) : Pupils may need targeted support to develop vocabulary, social communication, and confidence.

  • Sensory Processing Needs : Pupils may need classroom adaptations or personalised strategies to engage effectively in learning.

Support may be delivered one-to-one, in small groups, or integrated into whole-class lessons , depending on each pupil’s needs and SENCO guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as an SEN TA will include:

  • Delivering personalised support to pupils with SEN to enable access to lessons and activities

  • Supporting pupils to achieve academic, social, and emotional development goals

  • Collaborating with class teachers to adapt lesson plans, resources, and teaching strategies

  • Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs, behaviour plans, and individual support plans

  • Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, behaviour, and social skills development

  • Encouraging positive peer interactions and communication skills

  • Assisting with transitions between lessons, playground supervision, and lunchtimes

  • Observing, recording, and reporting pupil progress and behaviour

  • Providing feedback to teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists

  • Supporting personal care needs with dignity and respect

  • Promoting independence while offering structured guidance

  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
