Personnel Security Controller

What you’ll be doing:
PGI’s delivery function continues to expand, driving our successful growth. The responsibilities of the post are as follows:
- Ensure all personnel security processes comply with legislation, Government standards, and contractual requirements.
- Advise senior management and the Board on personnel security risks, obligations, and required controls.
- Maintain the Personnel Security Risk Register, ensuring risks are identified, monitored, mitigated, and reviewed for impact.
- Ensure personnel security policies align with HR/Welfare policies and are integrated into everyday working practices.
- Oversee BPSS checks, National Security Vetting, and maintain appropriate UKSV access for effective oversight.
- Implement and monitor security controls for the clearance lifecycle of staff and subcontractors, including aftercare.
- Ensure security considerations are included in HR and Welfare cases and that staff understand their obligations under the Official Secrets Act.
- Manage briefing and debriefing for SC and DV-cleared staff, including foreign travel requirements.
- Take ownership of personnel security incidents, ensuring proper oversight and reporting to UKSV where required.
- Record and report all security breaches, providing full impact analysis to the Contracting Authority when appropriate.
- Prepare, issue, and maintain Personnel Security Instructions, ensuring they are understood across the organisation.
- Liaise with internal teams, Government representatives, and Contracting Authority officials on security matters.
- Provide security advice to management and employees, including support during contract planning or organisational changes.
- Contribute to security planning and wider business strategy to ensure projects meet personnel security requirements.
- Arrange and maintain security education and awareness training throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Facilitate Government or Contracting Authority inspections and provide required documentation or evidence.
- Review the effectiveness of personnel security controls and risk mitigation measures on an ongoing basis.
On day one you will bring:
- Experience in communicating to Executive team and senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Eligibility for SC level clearance is a requirement for this role.
- Ability to present complex technical and non-technical security information, concepts and intelligence to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.
- Project, planning and monitoring skills to meet time and quality targets.
- Awareness of security technologies and thinking to drive business and personal development.
- Experience in a commercial organisation conducting government-adjacent security work.
- Familiarity with or experience implementing the Industry Personnel Security Assurance (IPSA) Framework and Personnel Reliability Framework (PRF).
- Experience of working with Security Aspect Letters.
