Senior Coordinator, Packaging Compliance and ESG

Fashion Heaven Inc.
London

ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) is the framework businesses use to measure their ethical impact and sustainability, and it is one of the fastest-growing areas in the fashion industry. New legislation in the UK and Europe now makes brands accountable for the packaging they put into the world, opening up a new career path in packaging compliance for people with an aptitude for product, data and detail.

As Senior Coordinator for Packaging Compliance and ESG, you will be joining an ESG team of four at a leading contemporary fashion brand based in Central London. Your focus will be on collating and making sense of the data behind the evolving world of packaging compliance in the fashion industry, which includes everything from labels and swing tags to bags and boxes. This is an initial 6-month fixed-term contract with the potential to become permanent in a growing team.

You will take the lead on selected workstreams, research and champion packaging initiatives, feed into internal and external ESG and compliance reporting, and contribute to building the strategy itself. Working closely with internal teams and suppliers, your goal is to keep the business compliant and make things more transparent, whilst keeping the environmental work moving forward.

The role best suits an Assistant or Coordinator from a Product, Analysis, Compliance, Sustainability or similar background, with around 1 to 3 years of experience involving packaging compliance, and ESG if possible. Ideal if you are between roles, freelancing or would like to specialise in ethical impact and sustainability. Fashion industry experience would be a bonus. An aptitude for research, process improvement and data gathering is essential for ESG compliance.

What You'll Be Doing...

  • Follow up with suppliers to gather and document the evidence needed for all packaging legislation and compliance.

  • Own the analysis and reporting of the packaging data that compliance depends on.

  • Push the uptake of traceable, nominated and preferred materials in packaging, advising teams on best practice, bringing ideas and projects to the table to support compliance.

  • Help to tighten packaging process control and shape a packaging strategy with the relevant teams.

  • Help bring all packaging data together in one central place.

  • Play an active part in the wider group's sustainability work, alongside the group Packaging Manager.

Preferred Fibres and Certification Capture

  • Work with the ESG team to monitor certification capture and remediation, closing verification gaps with suppliers and internal product teams.

  • Dig into supply chain mapping tools and internal systems to drive verification results.

  • Give the business and the team clear, SMART updates on the progress being made in verification.

  • Traceability and Transparency (Supplier Engagement)

  • Help roll out a new traceability system.

  • Support the launch of a supply chain mapping system and get suppliers on board with it.

Internal Engagement

  • Be the person teams come to with packaging and certification questions.

  • Create and deliver internal communications and training to key teams to support compliance and ESG.

  • Help set out best practice processes across the product departments as the new traceability system is implemented.

Fashion Industry Focus and Research

  • Stay up to date on new industry initiatives and packaging innovation, so the business keeps ahead of legislation.

E ssential Skills

  • Assistant or Coordinator in Product, Analysis, Compliance, Sustainability or similar background with around 1 to 3 years of experience, including packaging and, if possible, ESG.

  • Any experience working in the fashion industry or a retail environment would be an advantage.

  • Analytical mindset with an aptitude for detail, systems and data.

  • Comfortable working across different data platforms such as PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems and sustainability tools like Cascale/Higg, Better Cotton and Textile Genesis.

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills and data processing ability.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build affinity with suppliers and internal teams.

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage compliance deadlines independently.
