Occupational Therapist
12 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (SO2 / PO1-PO3 level) to support both Adults and Paediatrics within a multidisciplinary team.
• The role focuses predominantly on adult cases (60-70%), including major adaptations and manual handling, with a smaller paediatric caseload (30%), involving assessments for children with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Manage a caseload of complex cases across adults and children’s services.
• Carry out occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and reviews in line with legislation and best practice.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals (e.g. Physiotherapists, Social Workers, District Nurses).
• Coordinate care plans and contribute to safeguarding, discharge planning, and service development.
• Provide support and mentorship to junior staff (if working at a higher grade).
• Maintain accurate case records and comply with professional and organisational standards.
• Promote independence, reablement, and personalised care for service users and carers.
Skills/Experience:
• Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience
• Strong background in adult social care, including major adaptations and manual handling
• Experience in paediatric occupational therapy, including working with children with challenging behaviours
• Familiarity with the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding legislation
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong report writing, IT skills, and case recording
• Experience with joint working across statutory and voluntary sectors
• Willingness to contribute to training and supervision (for higher grades)
• Experience with care coordination and person-centred planning
Additional Information:
• This is a hybrid position, requiring in-office presence at least 2 days per week.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' post-qualification experience, ideally within social care or NHS settings, and a strong understanding of the Care Act 2014.
• Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council).
• Location: Hybrid – minimum 2 days/week on site.
