About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF INDEPENDENT LIVES

Adult Social Care in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where our passionate, caring and committed professionals do brilliant work every day.

Mrs D was frail and unwell. Her son was her main carer, but he wasn’t coping. We stepped in to help, but they were hostile to outside agencies. They’d always lived together and were terrified they’d be split up. Our social worker did a great job persuading Mrs D to get hospital treatment and a temporary stay in a care home.

In an epic effort throughout COVID, she gained the son’s trust and sorted all the repairs, carers and nurses needed so that Mrs D could come home to live with her son. We also got Mr D regular respite and a personal budget awarded in recognition of him as her carer. After all, there’s nothing more important than living the life you want.

The Role:

As a Residential Community Scheme Manager, you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. In conjunction with a team of other Community Scheme Managers, you’ll provide support and access to the preventative services that promote independence and reduce isolation for older and vulnerable people living in schemes and the wider community. We’ll also expect you to offer administrative and enabling support within the Community Supportive Housing Services for individual customers and clients, work that will contribute to the delivery of our overall objectives and priorities.

Developing a deep understanding of WCC’s values and behaviours, you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders to build a sustainable, highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful council delivering great value for its residents. But your work won’t stop here – you’ll also provide coordination of care and support to service users and where appropriate, effective on-site management services in order to establish an environment in which they’re encouraged to maintain their independence. Committed to offering a standard of service that complies with quality assessment frameworks, you’ll also ensure that service-related policies, procedures and service protocols are adhered to at all times.

Please refer to the for more information.

About You:

With well developed experience of working with older people in a support capacity, and awareness of the importance of care in the community as it relates to their wellbeing, you’ll have a good understanding of the statutory and voluntary agencies that work in this area, such as the DWP and Age UK. Committed to providing a highly focused, customer-oriented service and ready to use your own initiative to resolve complex out-of-hours problems, you’ll be skilled at planning and organising your own workload with the minimum of supervision.

In addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills and capable of using basic computer systems, we’ll expect you to have the ability to work as part of a team while adopting a flexible approach to your tasks. With a positive attitude, good numeracy skills and excellent time keeping, you’ll respond effectively to change. You should also have the ability to carry out regular Health & Safety checks within your own scheme and ensure these are carried out in another scheme if you’re covering for a colleague. In addition, it would be preferable if you hold a First Aid Certificate.
