Radford Studios is seeking an experienced and hands-on manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of our bespoke decoration and specialist surface finishes projects. Working across multiple sites, you will ensure projects are planned, executed, and completed to Radford Studios’ exacting standards.
This is a role for someone who combines technical expertise, ideally in surface finishes, plastering, or decorative trades, with strong organisational and leadership capabilities. You will guide and support our craft teams, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and step in on the tools when required. While primarily a management position, this role requires a hands-on approach, with occasional involvement on the tools.
Key responsibilities include:
Oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple specialist decoration and surface finishes projects from start to completion
Manage day‑to‑day site activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards
Lead and support a team of skilled craftspeople, providing technical guidance and hands-on problem solving
Liaise with clients, site managers, and internal stakeholders to manage expectations, resolve issues, and ensure smooth project progression
Review drawings, specifications, and samples to ensure full technical clarity before works commence
Monitor progress, resource levels, and material requirements, adjusting plans where needed to meet programme dates
Conduct quality checks at key milestones, ensuring surface finishes and decorative treatments meet Radford Studios’ standards
Maintain accurate records, reporting progress, risks, and variations as required
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements on all sites
Represent Radford Studios professionally, championing craftsmanship and high-quality finishes
About You
You are a skilled, grounded, and solutions‑focused individual with a passion for craftsmanship and high-quality finishes. You enjoy leading teams, planning ahead, and stepping in when the project needs an extra pair of expert hands. Whether you come from a hands‑on trade background in plastering, decorative finishes, or an aligned craft, or from a site management background with strong experience in finishing packages, you bring both technical understanding and the confidence to manage complex, detail‑driven projects.
To be successful in this role you will require:
Strong hands-on experience in specialist finishes, plastering, decorative trades, or similar craft‑based environments
Proven experience managing multiple construction or finishing projects simultaneously
Ability and willingness to get involved on the tools when required
Strong leadership and communication skills with experience guiding craft or site teams
Excellent understanding of finish‑related packages (e.g., plastering, decorations)
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements
Ability to be organised, proactive, and capable of resolving issues quickly on fast‑moving projects
Commitment to high standards of quality, craftsmanship, and site safety
Full UK driving licence is desirable
