Junior Technical Architect (IT)

Job title: Junior Technical Architect Location: London - Hybrid Contract Length: 12 months Sector: Public Sector The Role We are looking for a Junior Technical Architect to join a major Public Sector programme on a 12-month contract. You will work closely with architects, developers and multidisciplinary technical teams to analyse technical challenges, develop appropriate solutions and support architectural decision-making throughout the delivery lifecycle. The role will involve contributing to technical designs, architectural representations, strategy, roadmaps, governance and assurance. You will develop an understanding of the wider organisational strategy and how your architectural work supports delivery teams in enabling change. Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with developers, architects and other technical professionals when designing appropriate technical solutions.
• Undertake structured analysis of technical issues and translate findings into appropriate technical designs and solutions.
• Gather relevant information to inform architectural decisions and clearly explain the reasoning behind design choices.
• Contribute to design discussions and support architectural decision-making within multidisciplinary teams.
• Identify opportunities to reuse existing components, technologies and established architectural patterns.
• Understand the work of others within the team and contribute positively to team dynamics, collaboration and feedback.
• Develop an understanding of the overall organisational strategy and how architectural work supports its delivery.
• Identify relevant information that can inform architectural work, including strategies, roadmaps, policies, standards, patterns and emerging technical trends.
• Understand how architectural work supports delivery teams and enables organisational and technology change.
• Create and use appropriate architecture representations for defined audiences, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Gather, structure and explain information to be incorporated into architecture representations and technical documentation.
• Communicate architectural decisions, designs and their rationale clearly to relevant stakeholders.
• Align technical designs with the work being undertaken by other architects, developers and technical professionals.
• Track emerging technologies, architectural patterns, strategies and roadmaps to identify potential opportunities and risks.
• Produce technical designs with appropriately managed levels of risk, impact and complexity.
• Provide guidance and support to delivery teams using technical designs throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Adapt technical designs where required as delivery progresses.
• Apply appropriate architectural principles, standards, patterns, policies and constraints to technical designs.
• Support the development and implementation of technical strategies, visions and roadmaps aligned with organisational objectives.
• Understand how organisational objectives influence the design and development of technical strategy.
• Explain the purpose and application of strategy, standards, patterns, policies, roadmaps, vision and mission statements within an architectural environment.
• Challenge requirements and assumptions constructively where appropriate and identify opportunities to improve technical solutions.
• Identify and address relevant architectural risks, including business, data, technology and security considerations.
• Understand and engage with architectural governance and assurance processes relevant to your work.

Key Experience & Skills

• Experience contributing to technical architecture, solution design or technical design within a technology environment.
• Experience working closely with developers, engineers, architects and other technical professionals.
• Understanding of architectural principles, standards, patterns and technical design practices.
• Ability to analyse technical requirements and translate them into appropriate technical designs or solutions.
• Ability to gather and assess information to support architectural decisions.
• Understanding of how technical architecture supports wider organisational strategy and enables change.
• Awareness of strategies, roadmaps, policies, standards and technical trends and how they influence architectural work.
• Ability to create and communicate architecture representations and technical-design documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to explain the reasoning behind architectural design decisions.
• Understanding of architectural risk, governance and assurance.
• Understanding of technology strategy, roadmaps and the technology delivery lifecycle.
• Awareness of how organisational objectives link to technology and architecture strategy.
• Understanding of the purpose and application of architectural strategies, standards, patterns, policies, roadmaps, vision and mission statements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an understanding of team dynamics and the importance of constructive feedback.
