Degree Apprentice Civil Engineer - Water - Glasgow (2027)
You'll join our Glasgow Civils Team, a supportive local team of around 20 people who are able to provide day-to-day guidance. You'll also be part of our wider integrated Scottish civils team, working alongside colleagues in Glasgow and Edinburgh and learning from engineers across a range of disciplines. You'll have the opportunity to gain experience on a variety of water projects across Scotland and the wider UK, supporting work for clients including Scottish Water, Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water and Irish Water. Our projects include storm overflow improvements, flooding schemes, asset inspections, rising mains, pumping stations, fluoride schemes, bioresources and other water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You'll also see how civil engineering connects with other specialist areas, including pipelines, dams and reservoirs, structural engineering, hydraulics, mechanical engineering and geotechnical engineering. Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll be supported to build your technical knowledge and confidence through hands-on project work, mentoring and learning opportunities in areas such as geotechnical engineering, storm overflows, sustainability, buildability and pipelines.,
- Support project teams working on AMP8 and DV4 water frameworks.
- Learn how civil engineering helps improve water supplies, wastewater networks and treatment facilities.
- Assist with work across storm overflow, flooding, asset inspection and water infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues from different engineering disciplines to understand how projects are planned and delivered.
- Develop practical skills and technical knowledge while being supported by experienced engineers. This will be discussed further during the recruitment process. For this role, training providers could include;
- University of Strathclyde(day release)
- Edinburgh Napier (day release) To help you feel supported and connected during your apprenticeship, you'll spend four days a week working from the office alongside your colleagues. You're adaptable, resilient, collaborative and curious - you stay calm when things change, keep going when challenges come up, enjoy working with others, value different perspectives and like sharing ideas, asking questions and finding better ways to solve problems., For our Level 6 apprenticeship you will need to achieve a minimum of 112 UCAS points, from one of the following:
- A level: BBC (excluding General Studies). You must have Mathematics at grade B or above and one other analytical science subject at grade B or above. Analytical science subjects can include Physics, Biology/Human Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Further Mathematics and Design and Technology.
- BTEC (Level 3) Extended Diploma: DMM - this must include a Merit or above in Mathematics and Further Mathematics in Construction Units. Accepted courses: Civil Engineering, Aerospace, Construction and the Built Environment and Mechanical Engineering.
- Scottish Highers: 4 SQA Higher - A, B, B, B (to include Mathematics, Higher Applications of Mathematics not accepted).
- Irish Highers: H3, H3, H3, H3, H3, H4 (at least H3 for Mathematics and one other Analytical Science).
- International Baccalaureate: 32/655. HL5 in Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches) and HL5 in another Science subject, including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies.
- Other equivalent qualifications may be considered. You must also have:
- 5 National 5's (or recognised equivalent) with a grade B or above in Mathematics and English Language. Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Mathematics are also accepted.
