About the role

We're recruiting an experienced or early career Reception teacher for a long-term placemen in Walton on Thames, Surrey. You'll teach one Reception class, delivering play-based learning grounded in the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

As a Reception primary teacher , you'll deliver high-quality, child-centred teaching focused on learning through play, exploration, and structured adult-led activities. You'll create a nurturing environment where young learners develop communication and language, personal, social and emotional skills, and early literacy and numeracy foundations.

Your role as a primary teacher in Reception will include:

• Delivering play-based learning across the seven areas of learning and development
• Supporting communication and language development
• Nurturing personal, social and emotional growth
• Introducing early phonological awareness and reading readiness
• Supporting emerging numeracy and mathematical thinking
• Safeguarding and tracking pupil progress in early learning
• Building strong relationships with parents, carers and families
• Creating a stimulating, child-centred learning environment

The role demands genuine passion for early years education. You'll understand how young learners develop through play, balance structure with child-led learning, and celebrate the distinctive nature of Reception education.

About you

You're a qualified Reception teacher or EYFS specialist with proven experience in early years education. You might be an experienced Reception specialist, an early career teacher with EYFS focus, someone returning to teaching in early years, or a teacher seeking to deepen your Reception expertise. You bring:

• QTS qualification (or EYFS qualification)
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
• Experience with play-based learning and child development
• Proven classroom management suited to young learners
