Postdoctoral research associate in single cell lipidomics and metabolomics

King's College London
London
About Us

The BBSRC SEISMIC Facility - the UK's national hub for spatially resolved single- and sub-cellular omics - has just relocated to King's College London, with a transformative £2M investment in next-generation instrumentation.

Based at Guy's Hospital, SEISMIC, The SEISMIC Facility for Single and Sub-Cellular Omics , is pioneering analytical workflows to detect lipids, metabolites, proteins, and metals within individual cells and sub-cellular compartments.

We are seeking two exceptional researchers to join our interdisciplinary team and help shape the future of spatial omics in the UK.

About You

The post holders will lead the development of new workflows for single and sub-cellular lipidomics, metabolomics and proteomics, as well as their application across BBSRC's remit in bioscience research. The post holders will work on cutting-edge Orbitrap Astral and Orbitrap Excedion mass spectrometers, as well as the Yokogawa SS2000, which uses capillary sampling to isolate single cells or organelles into capillaries under confocal microscopy. The postholders will work on an array of projects with internal and external users of the facility, including virology, bacteriology, immunology, cancer and pharmacology.

We are looking for expertise in analytical science, especially in the development of mass spectrometry-based omics, strong interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to work across discipline boundaries. We also value experience or interest in industry collaboration - we work closely with many industry partners, including Thermo and Yokogawa.

By joining SEISMIC, you will become part of a nationally funded, high-impact facility, drive innovation in spatial and temporal omics, collaborate with leading academic, clinical, and industrial partners. If you're excited by the challenge of pushing analytical boundaries and enabling transformative biomedical insights, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for two years.
